Afternoon all,

I am hoping for some advice from you fiesta owners past and present.

My wife is looking for a little runa around to drive to work and back (20mile each way, mostly dual carriage way 70mph limit)) 3-4 days a week and running around town the other days.

We have seen a 07 place 1.4 zetec at a local garage for about £4800 with 35k on the clock. In addition to this we have seen a 1.6 Ghia 03 plate for about £3.5 with 31K on clock.

Obviously the 1.6 would give her a little more poke on the dual carriage way but will use more fuel and be more expensive on insurance. She is coming from a 2001 1.4 petrol polo so imagine they neither will feel sluggish.

Question is, are there any problems with either of these engines or is there a model that head and shoulders above the rest? She doesnt do the milage to warrant a diesel but not against it. (maybe 8-10K a year) but she likes to keep the cars a long time. She had the polo for about 10 years. Looks like the only upgrades throughout the range (02-08 maybe) is a cosmetic change around 2005/6.

Thanks in advance.

Both very good cars that are essentially the same bar the displacement of the engine watch out for engine management lights as the cats can & do fail on them & clutch hydraulics can fail bar that I know of no other common issues & have seen them with high miles with no I'll effects smile
