Ok, here's a question for the Bib's ... (You guys and your advice are all appreciated big time BTW)

On a dual carriageway to Nowich (Sneterton(sp) raceway)
is a asphalt mount for a car to park with an elevated vantage point. On top of the mound is a sign that says "POLICE PARTOL VEHICLES ONLY" .... I was done by a talivan (civvie) from the Norfolk Casualty Reduction Partnership, parked on this mound, nicely elevated and eager to snap up our hard earned monies ... The question is this, If this is a civilian vehicle, is he not illegally parked? And are the fine and subsequent points then rightfully given?

Thanks!

Edited to say, I can't spell to save my ass!

Tayside scamera van do the same thing on the A90, just after the Friarton Bridge at Perth.

They sit there with flashing amber lights looking like a highways maintenance van from the rear

I have seen a family parked up on one on the M90, eating their sandwiches

When I was a kid, I used to think the Police cars sat on these raised bits so they'd get a bit of extra accelaration as they rolled down the slope when they wanted to chase someone!

As they're still using P reg Escorts (see other PH thread on ages of Bib cars) they probably do!

This sign is merely to deter general public from parking.

Incidently, spoke to a foreign couple last summer having a barbecue on one of these EPOPS on the Southbound M1.

They soon moved and the sausages were very nice indeed

Those buggers are always there, just in front of the bridge. It's a very wide carriageway with excellent visibility and light traffic and I can't see how they can justify placing a van there.

If you're heading towards it, you can see it from a long way away if you're keeping your eyes peeled as the approach gives a good vantage point.

If you're going the other way however and it's targeting the rear of vehicles, it's not so easy to see as it's kind of hidden by the bridge.

According to my radar detector, they always seem to zap me when I'm quite close to them which is a surprise as they could get you from way further back due to the road layout.

Did you report the Talivan for illegal use of amber lights.
That's a "Construction and Use" offence.

I once passed an EPOP with 2 traffic police sitting in a rangerover both reading the paper.

Fine with me as I passed them at about 90MPH! (I was 17 and stupid, I admit it.)

One more 'criminal' through the net then
