Does anyone know of any really beautiful spots for a BBQ just off the A9 near Pitlochry, a bit out of the way, good views etc. Am organising a hen do for my friend and thought it would be a good idea to meet up with the stag group on the way back home on the Sunday afternoon for a joint BBQ.

Totally random question I know, unfortunately I am offshore so unable to scope places out till about a week before the hen do.

Thanks for any suggestions pics always welcome smilethumbup

Queens view is a bit of drive from the A9. An ideal spot is the car park next to Clunie power station, huge grass area with picnic tables right next to the river.
It's usually really quiet, I lived in Pitlochry for over 20 years had many a party down there!
You turn off the A9 onto the Foss road on the Pitlochry bypass and follow the little windy road for a few miles then drive through a huge concrete arch you can't miss it!

What is just off?

As said the Queens view is nice but about 30min drive after Pitlochry. All along Loch Tummel is nice, there is a great campsite too.
Aberfeldy is not too much of a drive.

Further up there is a beach but that is about an hour from Pitlochry.

The Hermitage? Not particularly high, but very pretty part of the world and home to some of the tallest trees in the UK, a folly overlooking a waterfall and a hermit's house in the woods. Plenty of good carparking too. Great spot for a picnic.

I was down there today on my mountain bike, total mess after the storms trees down everywhere!
Stunning spot but if you light a BBQ the National trust guy that's usually about will go bonkers.......believe me I know!

Thanks guys. Gives me a few places to scope out when I am home smile I don't really know that area so well, tend just to blast up the A9.
