The swirl pot on my 350 has to be replaced because its totally knackered and I was wondering how much they are and who supplies them. Are they really necessary??? I could just cut the "T" piece off of the swirl pot and put an inline filter before the fuel pump. The only reason I can see for it being there is to filter the fuel and I'm guessing it stops air getting into the fuel lines if the fuel level in the tanks are low??
Got mine from RT racing about £80 to £90 if I remember but the new ones don't have a filter so its best to put one in before the pump as well as the one after, made of alluminium so won't rust like the old ones.
I reckon the reason for them is to ensure the pump doesn't suffer starvationunder certain conditions but I may be talking from my ass.

Also got mine from Richard Thorpe - alloy and around £90. One end of the T had to be blanked off, so copied what TVR had done originally which was use a short piece of hose and a solid blank inside it with a hose clip.
It was the same with me, untill i realised that the T-piece joining the tanks was just above the old (shagged) swirlpot. The pipes from the tanks to the T (then on to the pot) were in bad shape too, so i replaced them and took the new ones to the swirlpot (this was the new T junction).
Shaazam !!
Must admit, wondered the same myself, why the tanks are joined to a T, and then fed to the Swirlpot on just one side and blanking the other. I was tempted to do what you've done (I take it you've got each tank feeding into each side of the T on the swirlpot) but kept it as TVR intended as in my ignorance I presumed they had done it for good reason.....or is that a bit optimistic.
cheers.
cheers.
Seemed like a no-brainer to me, so i did it that way.
Lets face it, the swirl pot is to collect fuel insuring no starvation on cornering, so it made sense to make sure is got plenty of fuel.....from both tanks simultaneously....i just could not fathom oneside being redundant !!
New pot came with two entry points, so i figure....why not

I thought the idea was to de-aerate the fuel being returned to the tanks from the fuel rail.Wedg1e said:

So there no way the swil pot can de-aerate the fuel being returned. But it could for the fuel going to the pump and then the engine!
