I used to be a TVRCC member, still have a load of Sprints and, looking through these, the number of cars for sale greatly exceeds those I can find listed on sites such as Pistonheads. To give myself a choice when I come to buy, I'm thinking of becoming a member again to access these ads, but wondered if there is another benefit in the better condition and level of care that typical club members give their cars? Will I find that these ads yield a better class of car than non-club ads?

Personally I would say anyone who is a member of TVRCC or Pistonheads would have looked after their cars better than average! Some fanatically ahem MrSheen!! But I really would not distinguish which cars to go look at by the club they are in, go to see as many as you can, condition is everything IMHO. When you find a car that suits you, enjoy..... and you certainly will.

I saw mine (and several others) advertised in the humble Autotrader. When I met the seller I found that he was a TVRCC member anyway and had looked after the car very well. So, it's worth looking everywhere and then ask the right questions. Have a look back through the recent threads that "ukbob" posted and there you will find some good advice from many PH'ers.

You'll find that with any car club the cars for sale on the club site or in the magazine are mostly those in the best condition.

I looked at six cars this spring, mostly from the Autotrader (initially). Most of the cars I looked at were poor - in the end I found a good one from Pistonheads. Who knows if that is normal? At least people on Pistonheads are interested in the cars, so perhaps TVR club cars would also be better than average.

IMHO once you have decided to sell you usually want the advert to appear as soon as possible, it could I think take several weeks before it would appear in Sprint if you dont get the timing right. Personally I don't think it matters too much where you source your car from if you know what you are looking for and most potential "S" owners seem to have done their homework.

You spend too much time polishing/waxing your car
