Need an estate no older than 2005. What would be the most comfortable way to waft about? The fuel will be free too smile .

I want to soak up bumps and recline in great comfort.

I love the Audi A6 but is it going to be a bit hard?

E Class estate in Elegance trim is what you want. An A6's ride is to hard for my liking, but I'd test one first to see if it suits you, Volvo V70 and Saab 9-5 estate are good as well.

Don't buy anything until you have tried a Subaru Legacy IMHO!

I like the look of these. Not too sure about another car from Vertu Motors though frown

Having owned the Audi, e class, and V70... The Volvo definitely wins the comfort stakes

What about an Audi Allroad? It's basically a jacked up A6 estate with air suspension, so is bound to be softer than the regular A6. I don't know how well it compares to something like the E-class though? Any owners care to comment?

In a similar vein, the Volvo XC70 is a higher riding V70, so might be more squidgy than the standard car.

Volvo V70 is quite comfortable, and I think Volvos in general have the most comfortable seats of any car.

If Volvo is not your thing and comfort is, E Class would be next on my list.

E-Class is definitely a good bet. For something a little more dynamic the E60 5 series in SE trim on 16/17 wheels also ride very well, as long as you don't have RFT's fitted (which is unlikely in budget). A better steer than the E put perhaps not quite as comfy, though certainly better than the equivalent A6.
