Hi All,
I'm about to remove the rear ARB (Later Mk2 higher position on vehicle) from my car to clean up and paint.

Any tips (on what has to be removed and the best way of doing) to make the removal as easy as possible would be very much appreciated.

I've had a look at the online manual on the www.tvr-cerbera.co.uk website but it only unfortunately shows the lower ARB removal procedure.

Have had a looksy on mine,as this is my next job......looks like you have to remove the shocks to allow the bar to come out, maybe just one side.mine is on top and this looks like a fairly easy job.mind your paint bud cos it looks like it would be a two handed job if the car has a nice white looking chassis.;)

Is this the same ARB?

If so i had to have everything off the rear end to get it out as it is very tight in there all the wishbones diff shocks and hubs and even at that it is tight.

Thanks for the prompt replies guys.

Scotty - Yes, that's the ARB I'm wanting to remove. I was a little worried that a lot of parts would need removing to get it out.

What do you think would be the bare minimum parts to remove (hopefully not the diff!) to enable removal of the ARB please?

I suppose I could always remove it's mounting brackets and move it from side to side and clean and paint it in situ? (Probably still not enough room to get to it fully this way though)

Cheers.

You might get away with the diff still in but at the very least i would think the hubs and shocks will need to be out the way.

I'm about to embark on this later type arb rear removal. Any idea how much does have to be removed to get it out for a refurb? There also seem to be 3 thickness sizes of arb rubber mounts available, 22mm 27mm and 29mm. What size would an early 2003 be?

TBH, the best way is to just measure it!

Other than what to remove you will need to get the car up high. I have removed everything (hubs, wishbones, driveshafts, diff etc.) and it still won't come out as my car is only about 2 1/2 ft off the floor. It seems to me you have to rotate the bar to face downwards as it passes through the chassis but to do this you will need to have the car pretty high given the length of the bar.

Can't help you one the size except if it is the rear as shown I doubt it will be the 22mm. Oh, and to confuse matters if you go for a powerflex upgrade they list 18, 22, 25 and 28mm for the rear roll bar bush on a Cerbera.

Cable tie it up and forget about it hehe IMHO it handles far better without it - less twitchy, less snap oversteer so more forgiving. This may not suit everyone though and depends on driving style, capability and suspension set up too biggrin

I am just about to try this, will wind the shocks up harder to compensate for the lack of ARB, first place I will be able to drive her in anger like this will be the TVR Track Day at Cadwell in September, it will be interesting to see what she feels like with the extra rear roll.

I broke the mounting for mine a couple of years ago at Spa, so I have been ARB less for a while. Does seem to be better out on track.

It was Spa this year that broke mine, getting them welded up later this week but will try running with the ARB tied up out of the way so I can reconnect it if I prefer.

Graham, what spring weighting are you running with no ARB, yours doesn't seem to lean much? I may change the springs while I have the rear end in bits.

This rear arb subject is more complicated than first assumed! Thanks for all the advice, I'll be changing the mounts n bushes and leaving it alone until full rear suspension rebuild me thinks.
