Upgrading to Sky HD & box change

I'm upgrading to HD to get F1. I already have an HD box that I bought elsewhere but they are giving free boxes with the subscription so it seemed rude not to have one.

I have to activate the box within a month but I would rather keep using my existing box and keep the new one as a spare (and keep my recoreded programs).

Would they notice I was registering my existing box rather than the one they send?

Your viewing card gets paired with the box during installation, so assuming you alerady have a viewing card in your exisitng Sky HD box it will be automatically updated by a message sent over the satellite to your card.

Assuming yor new box is coming with the post man and not with a sky installer just stick it in the loft. If it arrives with an installer just explain the situation and he'll sort it all out for you.

Ta, it's in the post so I'll do as you say and report back.

BTW they gave me a reduced rate of £6 a month for HD for a year when I said I wanted to cancel Movies

Thanks, all sorted. I did have to phone as my phone connection doesn't work but they didn't seem bothered/notice that it was my old box.
