Inspired by this thread, and the "gated" communities prevalent in the US, is there anywhere in the UK that I can move to and be surrounded by like-minded petrol heads?

I would love to live near to a circuit, the closer the better, and with people that I can relate to and not just have to make small-talk about the latest celeb nonsense.

Does anything like this exist in the UK? If not, I think it should!

Anyone else think it's a good idea in principle? Or is it just a pipe dream.............

I've moved around quite a lot, somehow I always end up meeting like minded petrolheads. Go to the local pub, slip into the conversation what car you drive and occasionally a car nerd will shine through, he will then lead you onto more nerdy car people.
You must be careful though not to advertise too much about your keeness for cars as its not trendy anymore and you will be shuned.

Football and playing the guitar seem to be great social circles.

You could live in a caravan with the gypos under Westway. That's like living right by a race circuit and they are 'people of the road'.

I live in the USA (moved a while ago) and would LOVE to live in a sortt of gated community dedicated to petrolheads. I haven't found any so far.

Imagine- borrowing tools or getting together to work on each others projects.

There was a guy who started a sort of automotive country club out here- that kind of inspired me

Imagine having a community dyno and a lift!
May be even a shared barn.
Could be very cool!

I don't think it would be possible in this country. An eco-mental would move in then complain about the noise and danger to children/kittens and get the place shut down!

I would love it if it could be feasible though, I would happily move in.

I thought the UK haven for pistonheaders is the Isle of Man.

Of course, in order to preserve the species we would need female PHers; these women selected for breeding must be of a highly stimulating nature...at a ratio of 10 women for every man.

We could have a democratically elected vetting committee or similar to stop any of these aholes in!

Sounds ace...but given how many posts turn into a massive argument you might also need a boxing ring. You could also have a petrol station that sells fuel at cost price and a naked car wash where the employees are all female of course, apart from the odd gay day once a week.

Well, it could be merged with a commune for nurses who happen to be amiable to the idea of fast cars also.

Married folks could live there also. My wife is very much into cars. If others wives aren't, that's their look out and their choice
