I've found the AA good but it may depend on what you prioritise. I've not had anything that could be fixed by the side of the road break so I'm mainly going off the the fact that their recovery truck service is excellent. They take a while to get to you sometimes though so if this is an issue someone else might be better.

AA for us. I wouldn't want Mrs5678 having to use the cover and then needing some random outsourced company to come and recover the car on a flatbed. I understand the AA to be the only co to not do this.

If Mrs XR4i needed rescued, I'd prefer an outsourced company to come quickly than have her wait the 4.5 hours it took the AA to reach Princes Street, Edinburgh after I damaged both offside wheels hitting a kerbstone across the road in the dark.

Having kids in the car did nothing to speed them along either.

I'll not mention my breakdown, when they dropped me off the nice AA lorry to be picked up by a Contractor who a) had a flat battery and b) drop on side lights on the unlit motorway to get some charge back...

To be fair this was a very long time ago. Mind you the last time I had a ride care of AA the lorry developed a short circuit and ended up with a flat battery... Spotting a chain of events here.

Sounds like it's swings and roundabouts then.

Was with a friend who broke down, called RAC who came out, then picked up by 3rd party contractor in the stest old flatbed going who dumped us at a services for another guy to collect 2 hours later!

The AA for me is the best company and the only breakdown firm I would ever sign up to
