Hi i have a 2003 ford focus 1.8tdi ghia on a 02 plate which has dome 120,000 miles. I've had it for approximately 3 months. It has been well looked after. Yesterday the turbo has stopped working. It doesn't kick in anymore. The car has lost all urgency and is terribly slow at acceleration. There are no warning light, no other symptoms. the car still drives but is slow. Can anybody help?

Regards

Tony

Coming from a Mondeo owner here but are there any "wooshing" noises. Possibly one of the pipes has a hole in it, the one from the intercooler is a common one. Have a listen/look under the bonnet while someone revs it. These faults don't usually bring up a warning light IIRC.

Hello

I have taken tubes off and inspected. this is no apparent split. I can hear the whistle of the turbo but no power and no indicator of any problem ie no warning lights.

vacuum hose on the turbo to actuator? melted or split, or come off? something simple like that maybe?

how mechanically minded are you? if competent then get checking the small vacuum hoses. one will more than likely lead up to a small black box attached to the bulk head as well.
