Air Con - Faulty or Rubbish?

So, 6 weeks with the new motor, first chance to properly check out the aircon on Sunday (it was warm-ish) and... nothing but warm-ish air even after 20 mins running. There seemed to be something happening when I turned it on but not cool air, unfortunately. So, either faulty or needs recharge or just rubbish.
Opinions and experiences please, Nobility...

Its not rubbish...thats why members of the nobility are also known as "the frozen hand gang"...so there is something wrong, try to regas or take it t an aircon specialist...

You probably know this but when you turn the rotary knob you are also pressing the botton in as well (and the amber light in the centre of the dial - indicating compressor on - is lit up) - right?

Mine used to stop working and it was just the spade connectors that I think is some kind of switch. It is in the front, drivers side of the heater box.

Yep, turn for fan speed, press and amber light comes on.

With the engine running, turn on the fans and press in the button, you should hear a relay click behind you on the bulkhead. If it doesn't then it normally means your pressure is too low.

Worth the effort IMO.

That's fine if you live close to the arctic circle

On a more serious note when I bought mine the heater control valve wouldn't shut off properly, the aircon was empty and there was a hole in the gear lever gaitor so constant heat, no cooling and open the windows and hot air sucked in from engine bay. Got the heater valve and aircon fixed (two attempts so go somewhere good) so fixed and then tunnel mod was final touch a bit later. It does work OK if all as god intended!

As mentioned, if relay is kicking in, check the heater valve these are a piece of st and let hot water by very easily and as there is no proper mixing box can easily overpower what cool air is being produced, the valve is under the car above the louvered plate near the handbrake IIRC.
The tunnel mod is also a good way of making the most of the air con by getting the hot air away from the cabin / handbrake area.

AC was an option on all models wasn't it? I wonder how many cars didn't have it specced new?

It was a £1995 option and I'd say that the majority of cars after the original 2.5 had it fitted.

Odd, I may live in the arctic circle but my car never seems to get too hot, even when I venture over to the continent or on track days.

Had the aircon re-gassed, definitely more effective but have noticed that without the aircon running and even on a cold day, the cold setting on the heater still blows out warm-ish air, which would explain why it still doesn't get very cold in the cabin with the aircon on. Is this most likely to be the sticky heater valve problem, or related to the tunnel cooling mod?
Gotta be solved before summer, methinks...

Yes, sounds like a control valve not shutting off completely. Have you joined Nobleparts and downloaded the US build manual there is a section in there that explains what the issue is.

PS I hope you have thin hands!

Did the holes on the heater box get blocked off when the tunnel mod was done. I forgot todo this and mine blew hot air into the cabin.
