I'm picking up a 1976 Series 3 on Sunday, my first foray into Landy ownership!

Hubby already has a tax exempt Series 3 and I'm hooked so getting my own - I never was any good at sharing!

Bit nervous as it's sight unseen, in theory it has a galvanised chassis, overdrive and a whole load of extra bits, the seller is giving up old Landys as he's got a back injury so seems to be using us to empty his shed, we're not complaining though.

Fingers crossed it's not a complete dog, I've got to get it 95 miles home.

Pics to follow...

Good luck, I'm sure you'll enjoy it even if it turns out it needs a bit of work.

Miss my Series 3 unlike any other car I've owned.

Just bought another Landrover myself. A completely original and unmolested ex-military LIghtweight. I pick it up Sunday.

Right home, safe sound and knackered!

New Landy is pretty good, starts every time, not too smoky (in Landrover terms biggrin ) Looks to be pretty solid, gearbox is OK - it's a bit sticky between second and third but better that OH's older Series 3 which I really struggle to change gear in.

The spaniel approves of the passenger seat and the heater almost works...

Lots of extra parts which we now need to find a home for. I'm happy, it was a risk buying sight unseen and it's been a drag to go and get it but it looks like a good deal and there doesn't as yet seem to be anything we didn't expect.

No pics for the moment - it pissed down for most of the day and then when we got home sun came out but was too low for pics.

LOL so do I, OH did grudgingly admit today that just maybe, my Landy might be better than his - but his is tax exempt and three years older so it's a bit more special!

What has been done to windscreen, is it a 90/110 bulkhead?

The split screen has been removed and replaced with what we think is a Defender screen, the bulkhead looks to be original 88. The chap we bought it from gave us another Series 3 split screen with glass in it so at some point it'll be replaced.

It's also got a sunroof! Whoever owned it around 2004 spent a lot of money having works done on it, we've got the invoices and money was clearly not a problem...

So far the nasty seats have come out of it (the driver's seat had a hard outside section that I couldn't climb over to get out of it - much to OH's amusement until he nearly did himself some damage getting out of it yesterday! The centre box has come out and there are three temporary seats (the spaniel needs to sit somewhere!) and we'll get some new seats to go in it.
