Will a Griff exhaust fit onto a Chimaera? Or rather would it be possible after a few minor modifications?

I think the only difference is the tail pipes. Griffs are shorter and bend up slightly. My guess is that the pipe length could be extended sufficiently with shiney pipe bolt-ons.

How easy would it be to straighten the pipes sufficiently to fit under a Chimaera? There would be a certain amount of adjustment available from the rear bracket mount, but I guess one would need to bend the pipes about an inch or so. Would a blow torch and a suitable long lever do the task or are these pipes made of tougher stuff?

The system will fit straight on and you will only need to have some pipe extensions made up. Schimg fitted a Griff system to his Chim earlier this year.

Curious. Why would you want to do this, is it a better system or do you simply prefer the upswept bit?

Excellent! The reason why is that I acquired a second hand exhaust with view to doing the sports conversion. I've currently got the quiet Swiss system (93dB), but I want to retain this for track days.

The seller wasn't sure whether it came off a Griff or a Chimaera. I bought it anyway, took it home and measured up. Seems it's a Griff unit, but it already has the shiney pipe extensions which I think should be just long enough.

My only other concern is whether the Griff unit has the correct rear bracket for my diff. Looks the same so fingers crossed.

Jarcy/.Mark,

Pretty similar situation to yourself, I wanted to go for the straight thru pipes option, but was advised against it (from various quarters) as it would be too loud.

I managed to acquire a slightly damaged exhuast off a griff FOC. Was a bit of a sorry state but come up like new after a bit of work with an angle grinder and autosol.

Wixer and myself took out the baffles and original pipes, welded in straight thru ones (cost about £3.00).

The large mounting plate fits in exactly the same place, but the rear hanging bracket had to be moved.

The ends of the replacement exhaust had been damaged so these were cut off and replaced with slighlty oversize stainless (£15.00).

Result: sounds really good, looks slighly meaner as the pipes are larger and I have retained the original item for when I am 40+!

Hope this helps.
