Tuscan rear pads, ditching EBC yellowstuff, replace with?
Discussion
I am ditching the EBC yellowstuff pads, havent been impressed. Wooden feel when cold and too easy to lock when needed – im finding that i don’t need them for my everyday driving, just don’t drive hard enough i guess to get the heat in, and then when they are needed they lack feel.
The guys at Str8 six hate them too and advised ‘standard’ or ‘Ferrodo DS 2500’.
Question is, what do you guys use?
Also...What’s the part number for the rear pads, and best place to get them? Think a standard set at TVR Power is £75 which seems reasonable.

Rob,
I've got standard pads all round. Jason fitted the rears and drilled the discs at the 12K service last year.
He commented then that the fronts were about 70~80% worn at the time, and as I had a credit note from Racing Green I got some standard front pads about 2 months later.
I'm pretty happy with the pedal feel.

ummm i fitted some ebc yellow stuff front and rear not long ago, i have literally done 140 miles since then 120 being driven to the paintshop and i must say that they did seem to lock extremely easily, i thought feel was ok but havent got them anywhere near hot yet.
Would be interested to know what pads others use too.

They may be absolutely fine - it may be just my driving - but i found i didnt drive hard enough for long enough to need the hot performance that yellowstuff is meant to give. Would be interested to know what pads others use too.
Im going for DS2500, Camskill, £94, just off to order.

Thanks for that - you were probably right - but for a few reasons i dont like sending my money RG's way if i can help it, even if it is only for brake pads, and i would guess with shipping (vat?) etc (camskill ship for free) there wont be much difference...anyway, ordered now
BTW, just had one of your old threads help with my door seals - ordered from woolies

Hi mate, Do you have the part number for the Ferodo pads from Camskill? Cheers!

I have to add, what a b@stard job it was to remove the caliper bolts. Took 30 minutes for the first 3, then 1.5 hours for the 4th. The bolt head had corroded and therefore the allen key was rotating in the head, i was quite worried for a while as you cant get to it with a dril should it get completely stuck.
Eventually, i had to hammer an allen key in, and use a ring spanner to get the leverage to get it moving, and then turn 1/8 of a turn at a time until finally i got it out. After much swearing, skin loss and smacking my head on the wheel arch .... it came out, and i promptly stamped on it to make myself feel better, which it didnt, it just made me feel childish
Pad arrive today and disks will be ready tomorrow, having them cleaned up by BG Developments by me before i put the new pads in....
