Vixen 1/4 Bumpers

Just removed the bumpers off my vixen. The inside of the aluminium is a bit white and flakey in places, not too thick but there non the less. After cleaning it all off, what if anything should i treat the inside of the bumpers with. Also after a bit of a polish is it normal to treat the outside with a laquer or should they be left to dull over naturally.

I wouldn't lacquer them to be honest. The inevitable knocks and chips will leave gaps that will oxidise and look ghastly. A quick rub with solvol once it's polished should keep it nice.
