Discussion
I have just bought a vehicle that tax run out on in October last year. Iv just got home and checked online and he hasnt SORN'd it either.
Had a look on the DVLA site and it said i may be liable for previous tax!
How liable am I? May be libale isnt definite enough for me, I want to know if im a couple hundred out of pocket.
Thanks in advance chaps (And LHD)

The person you bought the car from is liable for declaring it as SORN. So when you apply for road fund licence he'll get a nice £40 admin' charge notice from the DVLA.
If you do get any comeback just write to the DVLA (see "DVLA vs Liquid Knight" to see how effective that can be) explaining that you purchased the vehicle in good faith from the previously registered keeper and your obligation can only be from the date of sale. As you are about to give the DVLA money anyway I'm sure they won't mind.
Good luck.
