My wife fancies a Fiesta ST in blue, once she finally sells on her beloved 205 GTI and now they are getting down to near 3 grand it may not be that long before she is tempted by one. Are they any good? Owners, drivers, please advise!!

Have always felt the ST was a bit under-rated in magazine circles. I have just been reading an old track day article in Autocar and around Rockingham it was just 0.3 secs behind a Mk5 Golf GTI, a vastly quicker car....

So would you recommend one? She prefers one to the Clio 182, which for some reason she doest like!

Compared to the 182 it will be slower, handle roughly as well and be slightly better built.

(IMO)

Fiestas a cracking little car that is a good all rounder the clio's are a better drive (if you get on with the driving position, some do some dont) but the clio's are a pain to live with as when things need doing they are expensive as they are a bh to work on!

My wife has had hers for nearly 6 years now, If I ever dare suggest changing it, it's a NO ! Then again she has a point, it's never gone wrong all the time we have owned it. It's a 2006 car and is still as tight as the day we bought it.

Averages at about 200-250miles to a tank, a mix of short and long journeys. I'm after a full milltek system next thumbup

Brilliant cars, love mine. Not had much go wrong with it since buying it in June 09.

Plus they are relatively easy to get more power out of if that's your thing.

I've been own the whole route of Supercharged and it was great fun. Sadly had to sell the changer due to the family increasing in size but still managed to keep the car smile

Loved mine but the suspension was seriously crashy. Whilst I'd have missed the extra power (FWIWW!) my mum's Zetec-S is the better handling car IMO

They're seriously nice cars.

I don't think your wife would be disappointed smile

The only thing is the prices seem to be all over the place, but there are some real bargains out there.

I'm a massive Ford fan, and if I didn't need a Mondeo for the family I'd be tempted by a Fiesta ST, but probs look at a Focus as it's the best inbetween.

But if size wasn't a factor and I needed to cut costs it'd be a Fiesta.

Off a mk1 focus RS. You have to cut down the ends to make it fit on the end mind!

They´re alright, a Clio 182 would be a better buy though,

I enjoy mine. Its no supercar slayer but does what you need. Its quick enough if your not a 6 second chaser, handles well, looks good and is cheap(ish) to run.
