Ok guys, need some help having read all the prior tyre posts, I don't see anything very recent on this.
Tyres (Goodyears) are getting on a bit and I reckon a few road miles and my first track day will see the rears needing replacement. Mostly road use, couple of track days per year, and resonable wet performance.
So, What are the current options? Type, Prices and where to buy?
Oh, and also - has anyone changed rears only so they run different brand front/rear or are you all taking purist approach of full set of boots only will do?

R888 on the rear. great tyre in the summer wet or dry, in winter they dont get any heat into them and wheel spin alot.
Goodyear F1 on the fronts, good all round tyre which workwell in summer and winter but. lack very important front end grip when cold... I will be replacong these soon and poss putting Kumo s on. as they dont wear as fast as a rear fitment yet still give decent grip.

I had Toyo's on my old rims before the strip down and they were a good road tyre.
They didn't like the cold too much and didn't offer great grip on track but were progressive and predictable.
The rebuilt car has now got Khumo track tyres (very little tread) which I hope will be good on the road in the dry. I don't plan to do a lot of wet weather driving!!

R888 on the fronts? what size? and clearance issues?my standard fronts are so so close

Having talked to the factory and looked at all of the comments I see it this way...
My time is 90% road use (maybe a couple of trackdays per year) - must have good all round performance (wet included)... So it's down to these:
Pirelli PZ ROSSO
Michelin PS2
Anyone running the Pirelli's? Also where to buy?
Michelin to me are the best road tire for the Ultima. I would stop and consider a second set of rims and slicks for track days to avoid running R rated tires for daily use. Yes its not a cheap option, but an accident on cold tires or in the wet on not well suited R rated whatevers is going to be exspensive and perhaps worst. Just my thoughts, Lee
I have a set of Kumho's for track use and Pirelli's for road use. Each on their own set of rims.
In the dry, warm weather the Kumho's are brilliant with enormous grip. However, in cold or wet conditions you need extreme caution and if you hit standing water you are a passenger.
Th Pirelli's do not have the same level of ultimate grip but at least you stand some chance if you hit a puddle. I suspect they will do quite a few miles too.
The Kumho would probably only do a couple of track days before they are illegal for road use.

Hi Jim, what did you do to eliminate the bump steer? this is something that my car is suffering from on the road and can take you my surprise,i was thinking of having the suspension set up in the new year but would be interested to hear how you set yours up and what the results were., I made the decision for you and went for the mitchelin PS2's with Factory suspension and bump steer set up - for road use for now very happy!Cheers Karl.

The Ultima Factory did the work for me along with a wheel alignment check, and a comprehensive all round safety / build check. I wanted to start off with a proven Factory recommended spec and set up to have confidence in driving the car. I'm use to powerful Caterhams but this is something else. I believe there is a lot of trial and error with small adjustments to the height of the steering rack and therefore expect this work to take at least a few hours to over half a day to get it correct and therefore labour costs do rack up. The car is still new to me and have only driven to and from the Factory. All I can say is I felt more confident on the return journey and the car seemed more planted on uneven road surfaces.
