Chassis tray / brace

Advice please people, been looking at a good Cerb today but noticed the long brace / plate that fits to chassis covering exhaust is missing !

Is it structural ? How much to replace ? Have searched net for a bit but can't find it !

You can get one made etc just speak to spitfirev8 or Apm etc etc and am sure you'll find one.

It stops the heat from the cat's setting fire to long grass if you park on it !! I was reliably informed that a couple went up in smoke in the early days, so thicker spacers were fitted to lower it and drop the temperature.

The trays ( I think there are 3 in total) are structural and help brace the chassis.
I managed to source the tray you are looking for from TVR Dean at a cost of £80.00 plus pp

Put a WANTED post up in the TVR section of the classifieds on here and you'll probably get one via there.

Any time I needed something like an original exhause back box, etc I always managed to get it that way.

The chassis would have to be made of butter for the brace to make any structural effect.
It's primarily there to stop the exhaust from killing the following driver in the event of collapse.
The question that you want to ask yourself is would you really want to buy a car from someone who would drive around with it removed ?
Or has it been heavily 'tracked' ??

I have put deposit down on car after a great deal of research into background !! all round it's a good car that drives very well !!! so not worth losing over these plates.

So basicly i have a Cerb on it's way

Next job is to sort a set of plates out so anybody any tips on breakers yard or where to get some from ??

Not quite correct there Paul, it is there to stop the two centre rails spreading, hence the size of the bolts fixing it in place.

I would not run a car with out the plates in place.

Thanks for input chaps, first job is going to be sourcing the plates from somewhere.

Could do with some images from under cars please as it seems the plates vary a bit ! Some are sheet plates and some seem to be more of a frame look ! Anybody no the difference ?

My car is a 2000 4.5 lightweight so what would be the correct plates ?
