Best way for trailering a Griff - any advice welcome
Discussion
Guys,
My Griff is going up to D & C Trim in Blackpool and I intend to put it on a trailer. Some kind sole, namely another TVR enthusiast has very kindly offered to trailer it up there for me - however, he sent me an email today looking for the best ways to 'tie the Griff down' Can any of you Griff experts out there give us some sound advice about how to tie the car down - i.e. any body else done this?
Here was his line to me.........
" There is one thing you can check out, recommend how to strap the Griff down? Usually I strap cars down by either the lashing points or over the anti roll bars at the front and around the suspension at the back. Thinking the average TVR does not have a good helping of lashing points or particularly strong suspension mounts I would fancy the chassis rails but without another Griff to look at I can't be sure we will get attached without a bit of trial and error.... I don't have a set of wheel lashings and am unsure if we could use them anyway."
Advice and pics most welcome - as of usual thank you guys!

I always loop over the top of the wheels now i have the wheel hoops but have gone round the chassis with no problems, i normally leave the winch hook in the towing eye, in gear with the handbrake on! My Griff is with Dave and the guys up at D&C now and i'll post some pictures to show the results asap.
I always look around at track days to see how differant people tie there cars down and it seems a very personal thing lol

No issues with the handbrake but leaving it in gear
may put unnecessary strain on the gearbox. I always keep the race car in gear when loading up (no handbrake
) but it always goes into neutral before we set off. Can you not loop through the wheels? - I guess it depends on the rims you're running. Might be difficult with the OZ split rims but estorils should be OK?
For our racer (Griff) we use the towing eye on the chassis at the front for the winch, and loop a ratchet through the wheel on the back. We also use a couple of chocks on the rear wheels just in case (but these were home made). If going through the wheel make sure you avoid the valve though!!
Hope that helps!

You normally see owners lift the rear by the barrow handles and just push 'em along

.When are you getting your mo'ta back Christian?
In the next week or two fingers crossed, but have been busy thrashing the 350 and had a test drive in a Tuscan Racer which was interesting to say the least!!
Fancy a track day soon? I'm of to Spa in April and could do with blowing the cobwebs away! Donnington on the 12th??
Since TVR came into my life spring has never been the same, its like christmas as a child i just get to bring my toys out the garage instead of from under a tree!
Looking forward to a summer of fun;]

Engine going in tomorrow.
If all goes to plan and it is up and running by then, it may be a plan as I need to run it in!
Sounds great, i have only put 500m on mine so will be running in on the way back as well, whilst trying to avoid every stone or flying piece of debris possible, might just wrap it in clingfilm lolIf all goes to plan and it is up and running by then, it may be a plan as I need to run it in!
Are you going to chatsworth??
