Helmets - Anyone vinyl wrapped?

Does vinyl wrap shrink after application? 'Cos if not you might find it difficult to wrap a near spherical object!
I think you can apply using a heat gun to form round certain shapes such as wing mirrors? Could be wrong. I'm just after a plain white wrap to cover the dodgy colour it is.My dad has just attempted wrapping some bits of a kit car we're building, so we've done a bit of investigation on the matter.
Go for the expensive stuff (for a helmet the amount you need won't cost much) and have a play. It's not one time application stuff. Also on that video I saw, they crumped up a brand new piece, with the stick side revealed, and pulled it all apart, put it on a car, teased out the creases and it looked perfect. So it erally is not somethign that you need to get right first time - you can play with it.
