Removing Main Beam light units?
Discussion
I need to remove my N/S main beam unit (long story, will discuss on another thread). Have never taken one out before, I know there are the three adjusters on the back, but are the three wire clips visible at the front all that holds it in? If so what is the easiest way of removing the light units? Many thanks, Pete

Have you managed to find a matching replacement?
Hi Russell, I do not need a replacement yet (hopefully), unless you have one at a good price. The story is..... when making up and fitting a new aluminium grill underneath I thought it a good idea to fit the +90% Osram Nightbreaker bulbs that I had already fitted to the headlights, well whilst trying to carefully remove the rubber cover it came away in my hands along with the bulb mounting plate!! It appears that it is only held on by two screws into plastic lugs on the lamp unit. What I intend to try is either sticking the plate back with araldite or making up some plastic spacers and using longer screws fix through into the lamp unit. Need to get it out first to see. If all fails will have to get a replacement unit. All the best, PeteHave managed to very easily remove the light unit. By applying a little pressure from behind (had to take the grill off of course) and gently flexing the clips with a screwdriver, the lamp just popped out (had a foam mat in position just in case!!). Have now removed the broken piece from the bulb plate and stuck it with araldite back on the lamp. Araldite is a great adhesive, so have great hopes for the repair. Many years ago (must be 30 now) I repaired a radiator with araldite, it carried on without failure until car sold! All the best, Pete
The araldite repair was first class, a perfect job. Refitted the lamp this afternoon, I used a length of rigid wire to pull over the third spring clip as I managed to clip in the other two easily whilst inserting the lamp. I fitted the new bulb (+90% Osram), rubber boot etc before inserting the lamp this made it easy to complete. Then carefully changed the bulb in the O/S lamp and refitted my new mesh grill. All done satisfactorily in half an hour! If only every job went like that. All the best, Pete
