Seemed more appropriate to post this in here than the Scotland section. We've got a couple of cats that will, at some point, require a stay in some feline holiday accomodation as we're planning a holiday this year and will be going on honeymoon next year.

Anyone know of a good cattery in or around Aberdeen? Musts are - their own pen (so they aren't just chucked in with other cats, ideally indoors (as they are indoor cats) and that they get some human contact every day.

Never used any catteries before so no idea if the above requirements are too much to ask or not?

TIA

that place looks great , but over £200 for a fortnight for 2 cats in one pen... ouch!

Id try and get a family member or friend to pop in everyday or twice a day! thats what we do with our cat as I know he is much happier at home anyway and he is happy as long as he is fed and watered! oh and the house gets looked after too! curtains opened and closed etc!

just looked , Mrs Murrays cat and dog home down by the beach near Seaton also does boarding http://www.mrsmurrays.co.uk/boarding

Ha, I never checked the rates, just knew that they were good. He's ploughed a few quid into it. Managed to get moved there from Parkhill due to the WPR and the council buying his old place. Did very well out of it from what I hear.

it does look a very good proffesional place from the pics, I suppose having animals means you have these costs, but the Aberdonian in me looks for the cheaper option laugh

Thanks for the responses folks, I'll look into those. We debated getting friends to pop in twice a day but it's an awful lot to ask, particularly for folk who don't have cats to change their litter, clean up if one of them produces a hairball or is sick, etc.

Normally the other half's inner-Aberdonian would feel the same way you do but these cats are her babies so I suspect she'll be more likely to splash out a bit if they'll be happier!

No idea what they're like but my daughter is at school with the owner's daughter and she has been pony riding there too.

Hopefully their boarding pens are bigger than those for the rehoming cats, will check them out though. We did like the staff there and I guess that's half the battle with these places.

Thanks for that, turns out that place is the same as the one someone else posted above, they're now called Aberdeen Pet Resort.

Isn't the trouble with this sort of thing the fact that you are not only trusting them with your pets, but also with your home?

Yes, but I can recommend a lady in Alford that does this. She came to urs and do sat a couple of Christmases ago.

Just say if you want the details.

I'm sure that proof of insurance and testimonials/references are available if asked for/required. I do dog walking/pet sitting in and around Bedford smile

Ebrie Lodge - a bit outside Aberdeen but worth it. I put our younger cats in there while we were on holiday last year and my usual house sitter wasn't around. Very impressed by facilities, but to be honest more by lady who runs the place - lousy with names - but she's a cat nut, has loads of her own who run up to greet you, and genuinely loves her visitors - it's not just a money making concern.
