"Great Wall" Pickup

Local dealer made a "big" thing of getting these at £13,995. Chinese copy of a Hiace by the look of it. Probably not as tough though and lets face it they need to be cheaper to overcome that feeling that you are in a cheap chinese rip off that will probably fall apart the minute it hits something!!

I saw loads of Great Wall cars when out in Chile, but didn't realise they'd started selling them over here.

Seen several of these Chinese pickups pottering around southern Africa. It would need to be seriously cheaper than a Toyota/Nissan/Mitsubishi/Isuzu vehicle to be worth buying.

Saw these at the lamma show earlier this year, look very similar to the isuzu rodeo, build quality didnt seem too bad but they had a pathetic towing capacity (1500kg iirc) that i think will put most farmers off.

I am typing this on my 4 year old Chinese made laptop. The touchpad is a bit shiny from wear, but everything works fine and nothing has fallen off yet.

I will be reserving judgement until I have seen one in person.

The Euro NCAP tests are only comparable within the class of car tested. ie a 5 star supermini is NOT necessarily as safe as a 3 star eurobarge.

Hmm strange that I (and many people) never knew that. No wonder small cars come out with such high safety ratings then. Last time I bother about how many stars a car got on Euro NCAP.

They are just following the same path as the Japanese manufacturers.

Start off building cheap copies of existing cars and then slowly build an industry out of it.

Would that laptop have been designed somewhere else and merely assembled in china?
