Car goes into garage with one problem, leaves with another.
Discussion
Is it just me or is this quite common?
I do most of the work on my cars myself, but the last time I had to use a garage the car went in for rear shoes and came out with a cross threaded wheel bolt. Now I've just been with a mate who's car has been off the road for a while having a new clutch.
He's got the car back now, the clutch is fine, but there's a loud knock from the N/S/F wheel. I expect they are related and the garage are going to have a look for him.
Anyone else got similar, or worse stories?

As someone who fixes PCs (rather than cars) what I have noticed is that what you fix 'X' people have this tendency to then notice 'Y' and 'Z' and instantly assume you caused them or should, somehow, have magically fixed them (like doing any work is accepting all work for some reason??)
Tales of garages cross-threading wheelnuts etc. are probably quite common but the idea that a garage deliberately sabotages or damages a car in the hope the owner will notice and return to have more work done (as opposed to calling and saying they've found the problem and asking if you want it fixed) is somewhere between offensive and stupid.
30 years of experience with 'customers' suggests to me that overall, they're a far bigger problem than the people who serve them tho.

Generally speaking, as soon as you start to disturb parts on older cars they have a tendency to fail shorty afterwards if they were in their way out anyway. Particularly suspension related items that require some persuasion to remove.
Or, something hasnt been done (up) correctly which is what road tests are for
