Yup I bought a classic unseen on eBay (£2500) and paid for a transport company to bring it from Birmingham to Surrey. And guess what, it's great!

It is dark now but will post some pics.

Have not driven one for about 20 years, not a lot has changed. Slower than I remember, but then a 911 is my daily car.

Happy days!

You bought a Landrover, unseen? In fact, you bought an old Landrover unseen?

You're brave.

But it's great fun having one isn't it?

Give us some details. What you going to do with it?

£2500. Shoudl be a fairly good one at that price. Good body work and solid bulkhead, cross member and the like.

Did you at least see photos of it?

My mechanic came with me today, his views are on the rr:

1) solid
2) someone has sprayed wax oil everywhere, and I mean everywhere. Will have to clean engine bay.
3) slight blow in exhaust
4) had a respray, done not a bad job but not factory perfect.
5) no rust to be seen
6) inside is very very good
7) everything works
8) bit of damp in driver footwell, could this relate to sunroof and a blockage in a drain somewhere?

Will sit happliy on motorway pulling four axel trailer.

It could do with a check over from my mechanic, but all in all a good un so far.

Shiny smile

From the list you posted it seems a good buy, I'm so so tempted to replace my Disco and Series 3 with a nice late classic, a beauty like yours really doesn't help my frame of mind!

Also, I think you got that at a steal!

Do any of you have any ideas where the blockage could be happening to get damp in driver foot well, I think it must be when it was wax oiled.

I guess that it is a blocked tube from the sunroof maybe?

Also what are good upgrades, I am think of so far:

1) poly bush
2) new suspension
3) new tyres

You not on the air suspension then?

I'd go power.
Headers/Airflow/Sports exhaust first. These Rover V8's really can't breath properly on standard set up. Very much recommend an anti-roll bar at the back as well. I've got a Harvey Bailey kit on mine and the difference is absolutely astonishing in handling (an Elise she ain't). I know there are quite a few places you can pick them up fairly cheap and they're very easy to install.

Only a guess but the damp could be coming from the AC system if you haven't found and rust/holes. I had a leak in mine a few years ago and water was back pouring into the passenger foot well, nothing major and turned out to be a dead air valve.

From the initial photos it looks pretty tidy.

BTW you can upload photos direct from your hard drive if you click the 'Upload an image (beta)' tab at the top of the Reply/Start a Topic when doing so.

No not on air suspension, I did not want that as I have heard it can cause problems.

I don't have Aircon, so the water must be getting in from somewhere else. Just ordered Haynes Manual so will see what they say about drain holes.

Just took back all carpets today, very small bit of rust in boot floor will treat that, all else seems solid.
