On the way out of Leicester last evening I spotted a cute looking classic of some sort going in the other direction. I should have U-turned and gone back for a proper look but the traffic was awful and I needed petrol..

It looked, in style, quite like a Renault Caravelle but had more fastback body styling and quite a lot of chrome trim all over it. Body shape a bit like a fiat 850 sport.

It was painted a rather fetching French blue which may be why I thought Caravelle.

Any ideas?

More fastback. Could have been a Honda S800 but appeared to have much more bling attached than those generally do. Good thought though, along the right lines.

If memory serves the Renault Caravelle was a soft top with a hard top option. I think the coupe version of the Caravelle was called the Floride ?

I'm sure I had the Corgi toy when I was about 6 years old.

Renault Alpine A-110 immediately springs to mind:

Definitely not an Alpine, that Simca coupé looks pretty close as the sticky out snout was a feature, and it's about the right size. I'll have to keep my eyese peeled and do that bloody U turn next time!

Thanks for the input all!
