Just about to order some new brake pads as car will need them doing in the next few weeks but there's a huge variation in price:

Eicher: £34
Pagid: £41
ATE: £45
Textar: £88

Are a set of £34 brake pads going to kill me? Do I really need to spend £88 for a decent set? Any makes to avoid?

Pagid pads are generally okay, I haven't heard of Eicher before. I'd spend the extra couple of quid and get a set of Pagids.

I find Mintex not to bad mid range price pads ran them on track days in the Cerb and find them good for road work in the cooper S there will be better pads out there but for the price i don't grumble.

Just bought some Mintex Discs for my car £73 for the pair. Matching pads are only £23 for the front smile

I'd spend the few extra quid for an OEM brand like Pagid, Textar or ATE, false economy with cheap brakes as they'll likely start squealing and not last as long. Last time I did the pads on my Merc I used Textar as I know that's what you get at the dealer, just in a shinier box.

The cheapest ones are fine. I always fit the cheapest to daily drivers and never had any problems. Eicher are fine as a Pagids smile
