a long time ago when i was younger, it may or may not be me but i will say it was me for the sake of the true story.
i was stopped by the police outside caledonian road police station and breathylised. it was 5 am on a sunday. my mates and i had been drinking since friday night!! and had not been home since. we had gone to the pub saturday dinner time and a party saturday night. the car at the time was a hillman hunter, which wasnt mine. there were four of us crammed in and i happened to be driving, and we were 500 yards from my home where we were all crashing the night. i was breathylised and failed very badly, the policeman was just going to nick me when the police door opened and a highr rank policeman came out of the station, he was told i had failed the breath test and that i was driving a car that wasnt mine, because as i said " i was the least drunk". he said "its your lucky day son" and let us all go and took the car keys from me . i havent drunk and driven since!

another time i was followed home closely by a car with dipped beam on, same as me, his lights were blinding me but he did not dip them. this happened for about 5 miles along some country roads, i was in an etype, then someone pulled in front of me and were in a convoy of three with me in the middle, i dipped my lights as i didnt want to dazzle the car in front. as soon as i did this the car behind put its flashing blue lights on, it was police car, he said he was stopping me for not having main beam on,he breathylised me, but i had not been drinking so i passed, but got nicked for not having my main lights on:-(
would you like to share your encounters

Are you honestly trying to tell us you got locked up for not having you main beams on.

When is this alleged to have happened?

Drink driving has been a big deal for a very long time now - I can't imagine ANY copper letting a carful of drunken lads off with a slapped wrist.

And the second story seems to be extreme - are you sure you weren't just stopped (rather than arrested) for driving with your main beam on (rather than not having it on)?

I once got pulled for having a tail-light out by a panda car with a faulty tail-light.

Oh the irony!

I was being a bit "exuberant" in my VX220, it was one of the first times I was driving it with the roof down. While basking in the glory of my first convertible, I noticed a black BMW matching my speed on the motorway, next to me. Glanced down to see I was doing an indicated 85mph. Looked over to the BMW to see an unmarked policeman staring back at me, who gave me the "what are you doing?" hand gesture. I nervously laughed and slowed down to 70, holding my hand up and mouthing sorry. He smirked and sped off.

Hopefully he thought it wasn't worth the pull, just some idiot enjoying the sunshine.

One time I was delivering some goods to a client down the M23, and an unmarked Vectra turns on the blues behind me.

Realising stopping may be a poor idea, since I had 14 kilos of uncut cocaine in the boot and assorted assault rifles and hand grenades on the rear seats (I was in an E39 M5 at the time - employers car), I dropped down to third and floored it.

Ten minutes later, and some serious traffic meant I was still being followed by this copper. Thinking outside the box, I indicated to pull over, slowly moving toward the hard shoulder, whilst ferreting around on the backseats for a case of grenades. I bet you can see where this is going... hehe

So anyway, rather than pull over I nailed it up the Pease Pottage slip road whilst opening this box and emptying it out the window (‘what about the pins?’ you may ask, well, these were special grenades, so ps off). At this point I took a second to look in the rear view mirror and savour the fact I had left carnage behind me.

That was my closest encounter of the police kind. At that point I retired from Transporting and took up fishing with my French policeman friend, it was very nice.

OK my turn... on the way home one uneventful evening out with friends I was approaching a large roundabout, for some unknown reason I thought it might be a good idea to try a scandinavian flick in my Alfa Sud, this transpired to not be such a clever idea as after I entered said roundabout completely sideways I spotted plod sat on his patrol bike in a small sideroad that also joins the roundabout. As I sailed past him (facing him but travelling in a different direction) he was clearly taken somewhat by surprise and unsurprisingly on came the lights and he tugged me about 200 yards further up the road. One severe ear chewing later I was sent on my way with tail between my legs but no ticket which I couldn't quite believe. biggrin

When I was younger (and stupider) I got pulled quite a few times when (I'm ashamed to admit) I had chosen to drive because I was too drunk to walk! Always got sent off with a flea in my ear, never got a ticket!
This was in Central London, not much traffic in those days and I always (obviously) passed the 'attitude test'.

I've had a few other interesting scrapes with BiB, but I've already bored everyone with them so no point reposting here!

i never said arrested, i said nicked, and i was stopped immediately after i turned the main beam off!
and the police man, not sure what rank he was. DID let me off, and that was AFTER i failed the breathyliser. it was behind caledonian rd police station in roman way which used to be a cut through to caledonian road. just because you cant imagine it to be true, doesnt mean it isnt! i have also been stopped for speeding 3 times and got away with a caution, i think it has something to do with the way you respond to them. i was lucky that day, it taught me a lesson and i am grateful for what he did

why wouldn't you tell us about the pole dancer

coming home the long way in my then new (to me) xr2i i had someone sitting right up my chuff.

being 18 & short of imagination (unless it included females) i figured someone wanted a race so dropped it into second & floored it. i reckon i got into third before the blues & two's came on.

they showed me the video footage of the back of my car showing a steady 30mph before i booted it & "speed error" came up on the screen.

they fined me for driving with my front fog lamps on, which for some strange reason i thought was really cool confused

a few cars later i'd upgraded to a fiesta rs turbo again aproaching a corner in an "enthusiastic" manner i spotted a police car at a junction just past the bend. thinking the best thing to do would be lift off & slow down as soon as possible i proceeded to pass said police car completely sideways, unsurprisingly they pulled me & proceeded to try & get me to admit my speed before warning me off & letting me go.

Thats how I got my first 3 points, 2 years into driving frown

Rover 214 Convertible, same situation, fed up with the huge car behind me, with his full beam on, blinding me, so I changed down like yourself and went for it!! 53mph over 0.247 of a mile!! I remember it well. So gutted!! Ahhh well, now I just pull over to let the tosser past!

Got pulled by the police doing 73 on the A3 in my Quantum 2+2 when I was at Uni. He issued me with an SP60, 3 points and a fine but didn't laugh much when I asked if they would give me a student discount - all he said was that he "heard me coming a mile off" rolleyes
