My friend has the reg 'xxx 996' and got a quote from these guys when he was selling the car to sell the plate seperately. Anyhow, they didnt buy the plate but they did post it up as for sale on their site and then called him a few times when people had 'bought' the registration to see if he would sell it, he still didnt sell it as they hadnt increased their offer, but we wondered how many of the registrations they were selling did they actually own!

996 plate is still available for offers if anyone interested

This doesn't inspire confidence either.

P.S. I have a 288 GTO for sale. Wire me £300,000 and I'll see if I can find one to sell you.

This is want happened surely? They just chuck some massive database of plates up speculatively. There's probably some monkey on the phone right now telling the rightful owner of 'US 1' that they've had an offer of £2500 for it. He's probably laughing at them.

biggrinbiggrin Ha! Not surprisingly it turns out I haven't bought US1 after all.....loser
Didn't realy expect to have been able to buy as valuable a plate as US1 for £2500 but it was worth a punt! Gotta speculate to accumulate and all that laugh I reckoned someone had fat-fingered the asking price by two decimals.....
Better luck next time? Unlikely, their T&Cs are pretty watertight. Bit of fun for a friday afternoon though thumbupbyebye

Yes, was never going to happen but definitely worth a punt like you say. Might have done it myself if I'd seen it first! Would have been a nice earner if they'd actually owned it and the whole system was automated hehe

Newreg is a strange operation, they were still advertising a plate I paid £150 for at £600 a year later...
