Just wondering what people's thoughts are on the subject. Come the end of the year I will have some expendable cash and a Sierra Cosworth is next on the list of wants. So my options are to buy a car for in the region of £4500 which I understand will not be a minter by any means. Or pay between £1000 and £2000 for a project.

I know key parts for these cars go for a mint, and are expensive to fix when they go wrong. And it's ultimately an old Sierra so the less I pay the more I will have to weld etc

At the moment my thinking is buy something with test and use it for a while to get to know it, then keep it as a usable project.

I wouldn't be buying it in mind of selling it on. I don't mind sinking more money into it than its worth (within reason). All my cars I could have gone out and bought for half the price I end up spending on them long term, but, in my mind that's all part of the fun of owning an older car. And no I don't want a 17k Ferrari 456 thanks wink
