As we all know, the majority of the price is tax. When oil prices went up, petrol/diesel prices went up very shortly afterwards. When oil prices halved, the price of fuel dropped by a few pence ..... there are too many vested interests. This country was living on borrowed money for over a decade .... and still is!frown

Its common knowledge that to reduce fuel duty the goverment has to find the money from somewhere else to make up for it... wheres that going to be coming from then?

Cynical here. What do you expect to happen?

Significantly lower duty = increase in either income tax and/or NI.

Sorry. Labour left us with a -£1,000,000,000 legacy.
^ ^ ^ This.

The money has to come from somewhere.

> Libya(1bn), Afghanistan(18bn), iraq (9bn) and other random wars for which i'm sure there will be many more of. (syria/ iran)

(figures likely well out.)

I'll settle for the big house then wink.

Still saves more than adding 5% to the top tax band would make.

Simply not increasing it further would do. They benefit from higher pump prices through increased VAT take anyway.
