Hello

Can anyone recommend someone for an alloy tidy up, on an e39 m5 in west yorkshire?

Any suggestions appreciated

I'm looking at getting mine done and after a bit of research found the thread below - actually local to me, but may do shipping for you. Looks an awesome job...

Just done a bit more googling and have now seen that some people have had issues with the company above, so might be worth more research...

I had mine done by Lepsons, but they're some way from you. The quality of finish was very good and durability excellent. Rimfurbish was the other company considered, but their work appears to be a bit luck of the draw. Sometimes stunning, other times not so.

Mine were done by lepsons last month before I took delivery of my e39.

A fantastic job.

The wheels have a black undercoat and then the finish on top, a lot of companies can't do it properly apparantly.

No idea on cost though.

Lepsons charge was, from memory, £360 all in. Included removal of tyres, sorting out any kerbing and straightening if required, then full strip and refurb and refit of tyres. Not bad value, in my opinion. Pics.........

Looking really good there - presumably that's the OE shadow chrome colour?

OE colour tended to differ, even from the factory. Lepsons get as close as they can, but will also make them slightly lighter or darker at the customers request. I just asked for their standard shadow chrome finish.

I had mine done by Pristine Wheels a couple of years back - http://www.pristinealloywheels.co.uk/ - they did a fantastic job. Highly recommended.

I would also recommend The Wheel Specialist - did a really good job on my Hartge Classic 19s - even took the little chromed split rim nuts out whilst doing the rest of the wheel. Heartily recommend...

To my eyes, looks a shade lighter than stock. Of course, it's difficult to tell from a photo.

plenty has seen my refurbed wheels from lepsons. I can't get a picture up as out of the country for a while.

I think those are slightly lighter than standard. I think the wheels have a black undercoat which gives the factory finish.

I must admit that's kind of what I was thinking. My (original) wheels do look slightly darker, but the colour is very light-dependent. Having looked at other M5s with peeling wheels before buying mine you are right - the factory undercoat is black.

Any better?

They are arguably slightly lighter than many refurbs one sees. However, Lepsons will make them darker if required. On a Bluewater M5, this finish, to me at least, was preferable.

Thanks Matt, yeah, that looks closer - I'm certainly not discounting the possibility that it's because your wheels and car are MUCH cleaner than mine. Looks great with Silverstone.

Just a suggestion !!
Dont whinge at the dealer you're buying from and insist that he get all the wheels refurbed, because God will see through you and make you kerb 2 of them. (I have to blame someone and I m sure he'll not be replying any time soon)
