My Mk1 Golf needs a respray and I would love to do the work. Is it possible to hire somewhere to do the work myself?

Unlikely, for all sorts of reasons.

Best of luck though.

You can hire out bays on garages with ramps etc so don't see why you couldn't. Try calling some body shops and see if they could fit you in to rent a time slot.

No doubt most will say no though

So many reasons why not.

Insurance
Theft
Damage
Equipment

Given the costs required to meet the dreaded 'elf and safety standards, I'd be surprised if anyone would allow a non-trained operator inside them.

You haven't got the skills to spray paint

Its way harder then it looks
