What's your MPG,

My Subaru Impreza averages 19mpg, I might mangage 25 if I can control my right foot (or my brain that controls my feet).


For the 24h I'm taking a diesel, but for the classic I,m thinking about taking my Subaru.
It is mapped for 98 octane, question is what is available in France.

Problem will likely be all the folk in equally fast, and nippy cars en route will make you want to have a squirt of the loud pedal lol.

Im pretty sure i remember seeing higher octane stuff on the motorways over there.. 97 poss?

The Esso station in Arnage sells 98, or at least it did in 2009.

Why not just fill to the brim in the UK as close to your crossing point as possible. My M5 averages about 15mpg and i know that the tank will only allow me 200 to 250 miles if im carefull. I might just make it there and back on one tank from Poole / Portsmouth.

i find most supermarket stations (Super U/Intermarche) have higher ron fuel, never had much issue finding it

Took my moded scoob for the last six years and had no problems finding fuel, no v power but most have super unleaded. Depending on how much driving I do on Saturday night and Normandy on the way home she uses approx £300 on fuel.

Worth the effort cause there's not many scoobs go to Lemans now.....see you there!!

My TVR Chimaera does 28 mpg on a run (80 - 85mph cruise).

Not bad for a 4.0 litre V8 designed in the late 1950's.

I've just averaged 10miles to the gallon, during a week of commuting lol. Hopefully on a long run, with a steady foot, it should be much better. I can always lean its low throttle map out a bit to help.

With 'keen' driving ---> 16mpg

On a run about 22ish if I'm lucky

Things are looking better..yesterday I managed 160miles to half a tank (£100 to fill her up), sat at a very steady 55-60mph with the occasional throat clearing burst.

I can get 34mpg on a run. But generally get low 20's.

Why diesel for main event and Subaru for the Classic? I would have thought better the other way around, or diesel both trips?

24h trip costs are all shared between 4 people in one car, Trip has been done to a price to keep costs down to a minimum. (travelling from Newcastle-Upon-Tyne).

Classic will be just me (possibly 1 other), so all costs are mine, and i dont mind paying the 1400 mile fuel costs

I see it as the classic being a proper petrol heads event, and the 24hr more of just an excuse to get pissed whilst around flash cars....ie the classic is more of a car show/event as apposed to a race/event.

Just got my 1st scooby. Fuel being split 3 ways. Haven't told the
Other 2 it only manages 220miles on £60! I'll keep an eye out for you

45mpg from my VX220 turbo on a normal run, nice ally tub and light plastic body. It's the old Colin Chapman thing, less is more. Not many can stay with it when its lit up either.

And those that can often can't carry the speed into corners.

Says me anyway !

Yeah go well them....Ive worked on many, inc a few VXR220, including number 65 (the blue one, which my work at the time sold).
But the question has to be asked.....how much luggage you planning on squeezing into that little clam shell?

Last year super U in Arnage sold 98 at a good price. My 968 was supercharges and mapped for 98, so I had a bottle of octane booster with me, just in case. No prob at all in all the years we've gone getting 98.

MPG wise the 968 returns around 35 on a run and about 9 on track.
