Finally scratched an itch today and picked up a dark blue manual 1999 model.

I have a few little jobs to do like fit the rear fog light switch, new front discs and radio band expander, but for less than 2 grand I cant complain.
Its quite light steering but feels better on the road than the WRX bug eye and classic Impreza ive owned in the past. Performance is pretty good too, its replaced an E46 M3 and its not a million miles off the pace, although there is a dip between turbos. (Valley of death)hehe

Anyone have any experience of these?
Any problems? any tips on where to buy parts?
Cheersbeer

Loving it. Really understated cars.
Second and third gear at over 4000 revs is addictive.driving

I have a gold 2000. Love it, feels a bit more grown up than an Impreza. You get a few odd looks because most people don't know what it is.

Valley of Death can be smoothed apparently, some are worse than others. Does your CD player work OK? A lot give err messages on the head unit player.

yes

Not an issue on mine which is a 2002, they made some fairly significant engines changes with the mid-01 revision though (higher compression, diffrent turbos, newage ECU etc).

Zerosports make a device called the sequential controller which you can use to adjust changeover points etc and smooth it out if its an issue,

Cheers guys.
CD player is the standard fit unit, works well and sounds good. Only need to fit a band expander to get radio channels.

My Wife has a silver '99 B4RSK and it's a great car, I'd even argue that the valley of death makes it slightly more interesting to drive.

Head over to http://www.uklegacy.com/forums/ and check out the Nutty mods, he sells a few reasonably priced parts that restore (and sometimes even slightly improve)the as new performance of the car. We bought the refurbished solenoid box and the VOD was much improved.

As for other parts, I always use http://www.importcarparts.co.uk/ for both this and my Forester XTen.

Hope this helps.

I just remembered, there's also a guy on there that makes excellent mdf speaker adapters that allow you to fit standard 6.5" fronts and 5.25" rear speakers. A vast improvement on the oem items, ours had completely fallen to bits.

I might look at that myself.I'm getting a terrible bass buzz from my door speakers.
