1999 Chimaera 500, what oil?
Discussion
I've become a bit of an anorak with stuff like this. For the Chim 500 i recommend 10w 50 having tried all the variants. Also the recommended viscocity by Opie oils.
IMO the 0&5w tend to be too thin partculurly on long distance runs & foreign climbs & the engine is tappety, silimarly the 20w oils tend to be a bit too thick on cold/winter start ups - you can hear the circulation.
So 10w50 or 60 provides for a good range of circumstances incl hot running & cold starting without any undue noise. Choose an oil with ZDDP content like Silkolene & synthetic will remain stable for longer than mineral.
