I was browsing the classifieds as always when I came across this.

Something about it has set alarm bells ringing in my head, am I being stupid or is something not quite right with it?

Its not a merlot for a start. No merlot badges, wrong (and very nasty IMHO) wheels. Wrong dash (Merlots had wood I believe), and a nasty bolt on twin exhaust.

Oh and the killer item - its an Eunos import and I believe the Merlot was a UK only variant.
He dosent claim it to be a Merlot edition, just painted in Merlot metallic

Well, I've been doing a little bit of research, the Merlot edition was apparently sold in Japan as the VR Limited (A).

Its late, I misread and got it all wrong. Its an Eunos import with nasty wheels and twin tailpipe. No pics of it with the soft top up , that would be the surefire way to tell if its a VR, they had tan coloured hoods.

ETA: looking past all the flim flam for that money it doesnt look too bad but it would need to be clean and rust free

I may well be going to view it tomorrow but as I said, alarm bells were going off.
If I do view it I'll be going over it with a fine-toothed comb.

he said "thru". it's a kid, and he's been ragging it to sh*t every trip it's ever been on.

That being said, buy on condition. and look at the engine extremely carefully, especially for HG failure, both through the engine oil and radiator fluid.
