Alloy radiators

Any one fitted an alloy rad in AJP engine? Mine is leaking again so I might as well fit a nice shinny new one in looking at radtec ones, can any one comment on there performance or any over cooling issues?

Only a summer car really any way with the odd winter day here or there.

I ran one in the Chim and it was great ran very well all year round.

70/80 mmmmm overcooled perhaps ? In my experience better power is produced at temp c.90 degrees although that's for a 4.5 admittedly. I can see yours is running the 4.2 induction so assume its a 4.2? Interested to hear any informed comment on this topic.

Mine has an alloy rad fitted & after the temp sensor was renewed it also shows between 70 - 80 on a run & creeps to 90ish in traffic , looks very posh though ...

yes 4.2 70-80 is what the gauge says so its only approx. performance has always been good never overheated i would rather have a cooler running engine than a cooked one;)

Thanks for that. It'll clearly not cook at 80 degrees or between an indicated 90/100 and higher (from experience ) I'm looking for INFORMED comment on optimum running temps for peak power please - anyone? Thanks

Spongebob my receipt says £413 inc vat from TVR.com a few year ago though.

about 480-520 now.:Dthis will need doing on mine this year as my rad is lets say old.Think this year will see the 3k annual budget blown out of the water;).oh well in for a penny in for 3 grand +++++++

Well I just went ahead and bought it for £395 delivered to my door, A radtec unit as well.

Chap on e-bay who sell TVR parts, He has been very helpful to deal with, I made him a offer and we met in the middle. Not all that much more than i paid for my chims one but I had to make Fan mounts for that one my self out of stainless that took a good couple hours for me to fabricate. So think i got a fair deal.

Ha ha i have just popped over the 4 grand mark now why stop at 3 The thing is most of it is not essential stuff i could have got away with spending max of 1k oops

Bump! Just ordered a new alloy radtec radiator. What antifreeze should I use (blue/red/pink etc), and still 3-1 ratio of water to antifreeze?

Halfords red OATs stuff is good for Alloy but not so good for copper rads.

I fill mine with 5l of Anti freeze and top up the rest with water so thats is around a 40% Antifreeze mix IIRC. Worked fine last year for me, and worked fine in my Chim for 3 years
