Right guys I've got a 1991 MR2 G Limited that i bought back in 2004. I had a driving ban at the end of that year so gave it to my mum. When i got my licence back i ended up with a vauxhall frontera.
Anyway long story short I am going back up north this weekend to reclaim the car off my parents drive. Last time I saw the car I was a little unimpressed with the lack of care it seems to have been treated with in the last 7 years. Persons unknown (I have only one viable suspect) have managed to drag the front corner on a post or something, the drivers side seat cloth is warn through. Paint badly faded, paint on rear spoiler blistered and generally tired and unloved all round. Having said this it has had new cam belt, new clutch and anything else it needed to keep it on the road.
Therefore where would you guys start to give the car a freshen up?
I'm thinking respray, retrim and and maybe some mild tuning tweaks. Nothing involving single sided exhausts or body kits as i want the car to still look original as it is now.
Any recommendations around bedfordshire?

You're not looking in the right place; MR-2s are going for less than no money at the moment mate. Considering you're looking for a donor what about an automatic? They are a lot cheaper than the manual variants for obvious reasons. I've seen quite a few go for about £700 and they've otherwise been working examples. If you're looking for an engine swap that maybe isn't the way to go mind. Consider an F/I one, or alternatively drop the car to someone who will stick a V6 lump in it.
My advice however would be to get on the owners club - specifically IMOC UK and get involved with the parts for sale section. There's plenty of MR-2s breaking so you can probably grab either replacement or uprated parts for reasonable money.
