I know we need to get into the god dam car ,But why do door handles always spoil the lines of cars with the handles and the recess...A few have hidden them over the years (TVR,Alfa Etc )but still top end, big money cars have ugly handles that ruin the lines and looks,Surely in this day'n age there's a way of entering a car without a ugly door handle !..

Think the recessed handles from Aston Martin and Nissan GTR get it right.

Then there's the MP4-12C touch sensor...

Hidden Alfa and Seat ones are good. Fiat Barchetta ones are excellent!

Citroen AX had the right idea hiding them in the b pillar

I like the handles on the Ferrari 360. Rather well hidden I think.

Door handles are typically optional extras on Morgans, for some reason most folks seem to spec them up, but personally I rarely use mine.

I thought they were great early Saxo's and 106's had them too.

/\ Not hidden.

Alfa rear in the C-pillar is hidden. MP12 FFS-XYZ (etc) is hidden. TVR don't even have them!

Didn't the original Renault 5 have hidden door handles, or possibly just a press button.

The fiat Uno 3 door had a smilar arrangement to the AX and pre dates it.

IIRC the fiat barchetta had quite a cool handle that popped out when the button was pressed

I agree. I think a feature should be made of them. Either discreet like an Aston or proud like a Royce. Those on a Phantom are like a 50s fridge. Lovely.

Quite. Hours of fun watching people try and find them.

I recently went to Phuket* and there seemed to be a local craze to add extra large chrome door handles to the most mundane of cars. I don't want to break any copyright laws by posting a picture, but if you scroll to the bottom of this link under 'Pictures of individual accesories' see the 'door handle chrome insets' for a good example. They would put them on otherwise quite plain Honda Civics and similar.

The wood trims are particularly attractive

I only saw them after I'd posted...we got a taxi one day with those fitted and the chrome door handles it was only outdone by the 'Tuk Tuks' in terms of 'bling'. Tuk Tuks deserve a thread all of their own: 900cc I believe and we went to a stag do with about 11 in the back of one, plus the driver and one front seat passenger. smile

I actually really like this sort of door handle;

Feels very nice to use, and looks far better than the flat, top hinged type which are also common.

FD RX7 and NSX have well hidden door handles - eg;

Mk1 MX5 also has a nice to use door handle (excuse the chrome in this pic);

Fiat Barachetta handles are nice as already mentioned;

And the SLS ones too because they sit flush with the body when down;

However, it sounds like OP really wants door poppers (and all the extra fun they bring should you get a flat battery).
