I'm having fun & games with the MOT and emissions this year, the car is in great condition, cats etc etc but its not playing ball. Its in good hands and I know it will get sorted but I'm told the MOT just keeps getting tougher on emissions, I don't beleive the hc output has been decreased below 200 but the reading from Lambda's and so is required, if this is a continuing theme what's going to happen in the future? will there come a come where we just can't get our cars through?

Be interested to know what he says as I was told that ( I think) they now need to see readings from the lambdas to prove the whole emissions loop functions as expected.

Emissions rules come MoT time for our cars do not change.
You either have:
a) A problem
b) An MoT station with better more accurate kit than before.
c) An MoT tester who has been felt up recently by VOSA.
You readings should be within the following.
CO <=0.3%
HC <=200ppm
Lambda 0.97-1.03
Idle CO <=0.5%
Post up what you have and may be able to give you hint of where to look.
You either have:
a) A problem
b) An MoT station with better more accurate kit than before.
c) An MoT tester who has been felt up recently by VOSA.
You readings should be within the following.

HC <=200ppm
Lambda 0.97-1.03
Idle CO <=0.5%

The garage is convinced there is a problem, but they are having a hard time finding it and have been speaking to a couple of Cerb experts. It may be off to Austec for a look at the map as all other avenues have been a dead end so far. On a TVRCC RR day last year at Austec Paul did say the fuelling was terrible but as it produced good power and runs well It hasn't been touched. Having said that, it's managed to get MOT'd for past several years so its more likely there is a problem somewhere than a map issue from the factory as I beleive it would have just left with a standard one right?You either have:

I don't have figures to post but it is fouling up plugs easily at low RPM so somethings wrong. Luckily its not costing me money to investigate, the garage are doing this so I'm not complaining or worried at the moment, just more interested in if the MOT is getting tougher which 2 different garages have told me, perhaps incorrectly.

Note the relaxation on the lambda values for these engines. They should be tested to these specs not the standard 0.97 to 1.03.

Well I am sure that he's not implying a Clio was tested 'instead' of his car as that would be a really stupid thing to plaster all over the net!!! Or a Porsche for that matter!!! UnbelievableYeah the police are following up the evidence right now. I suspect if Nick looks out the window he might see a couple of guys outside the house on a stakeout, sitting in a mondeo and pretending to read the paper. Suggest Nick makes an exit via the kitchen door, over the fence and through a neighbours garden. Maybe start a new life in south america.
