Coolant drip.HELP !!

After recently having the Radiator recored I have now noticed a small drip on the floor.
It actually drips on the the exhaust pipe in between the bracket onto the engine and the flexi pipe section.
(the rear of the engine)
It isnt an awful lot ,so harder to find.

HELP !!!!!
Been underneath and cant see that much.
I suspect the coolant pipes from the back of the inlet manifold to the heater matrix. This area (underneath the actual connections) seems quite dirty.

Any suggestiions?

Suppose after having a re-cor the system is at full pressure again and prehaps found another weakness, might be worth ago re-bleeding the system as I think if it has an air block it can cause funny things to happen. or try tightning some of the hose clips in the area you think it is leaking from??

Cheers BB, I just went out and did this.
I changed the hoses over winter too, so I wonder if one of those had a slight drip.
I also wonder if the drip may be at the front of the valley and running back?????

What would be the tell tale sign of a air lock?
The heater gets warm.

All I am really concerned about is if its the right head leaking at the back?
Is this possible?

I know you can check for an air lock by feeling certain pipes as the engine heats up and Thermostates open but cant rememener which ones of the top of my head.. prehaps worth a search on here.
I especially remeber when changing the pipes on mine taht the one that goes down to the pump behind the Alternator was a Barsteward to get changed and tighten, maybe yours was the same i dunno and its not quit tight enough? this could be why you have coolant in the valley as isnt it just above and at the front of It????

Sorry I am not a tech head just shooting ideas I think it could be and where i'd look.

I'd take to back to the people that did it, say that it leaks, and ask them to do it again properly.

The rad is fine, this is another leak , dripping onto the exhaust at the rear of the engine

Ah, so if isn't anything to do with the other work I see your point. Not having had this problem myself I can't make a sensible suggestion, but hopefully my esteemed colleagues will fix you up.

Without wishing to sound condescending, are you sure it's water (you should be able to smell antifreeze)?

I have a leak onto that section of exhaust, and it's power steering fluid coming from the metal u bend under the PAS pump!

At first I wasnt 100% sure,mopping it up with white kitchen towel showed it to be blue.

Perhaps if you wipe around above where it's leaking from, you might be able to identify exactly where its' coming from.

Just poured a small amount of water into the valley and it dripped down the engine onto the same place.
Will have to take the plenum off and tighten all the pipes..

I’ve had a similar problem after replacing a rad, one of the joints to the heater matrix started leaking. I guess it a result of disturbing the system.

Ok still got this problem so I revived the thread.
Had the plenum cover off at the weekend and tightened the two jubilee clips at the back of the inlet manifold.
They both tightened a bit.So I thought that would be it.
Just moved the car and again there is a small patch of water on the floor, below the back of the engine ,towards the passenger side.
And its definately blueish water .


Any more ideas please?

The pipes themselves could be perished ?

Just guessing, but when i replaced my hoses i found alot of them were in a poor state

Yeh , my thoughts too, poured some more water into the valley and it does come out at the rear of the engine ,
think I will leave all alone for the moment. May be strip off the plenum and inlet over winter and change /check the pipes. Most have been swapped for silicon , just one or two I couldnt get at.

Can you not see any damp areas around the engine that might give a clue as to where it's coming from?

Well , yes . The gasket in the valley looks damp all the way from the front to the rear.
