I have removed vinyl advertising signs from my work's van by peeling them off whilst blowing a hot hairdryer at it.

However the shape of the sign is still visible and there seems to be some adhesive type residue left.

What is the best way to get rid of this easily? I assume I could use the full clay bar treatment but is there an easier way?

Standard Transit van with individual graphics on front bonnet, rear doors and both side panels. All the signs were roughly A3 in size and were "cut round" the letters so although the graphics have been removed, the outline of all the letters are still there.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Autoglym Intensive Tar Remover can work with a bit of effort.

Have some of the Autoglym already, might give that a try.
Don't have petrol but would white spirits do the same or would that lift the paint?

For a no worries approach use tardis. If it's just for a small patch i'll even send you some for free. It really is great stuff.

+1 for Tardis. You can get smaller quantities from fleabay. It's also great for removing wheel balancing weight residue and tar spots.

Also, you will find that the Tardis bottles tend to hold a lot more product than you think, due to being bigger on the inside silly

Nothing works better for shifting sticky stuff or tar like carb and choke cleaner.

1pound a can in the Poundy type shops or for me XS Stock in Irvine. Or get yourself a Halfords Trade card and get a big tin for 3pounds

Cheers guys, I managed to remove most of it with petrol and a Ambersil label remover which a neighbour gave me (which I finished so buying more from Ebay).

When I get the new tin it will hopefully remove the rest (The Autoglym stuff didn't work).

Failing that, it will be down to the pound shop!
