BUKC my onboard footage
Discussion
Well I've just gotten a new helmet camera and managed to get some use out of it last week in the BUKC.
Thought you guys might like it:

It was quite cheap as well, only cost £45! It's a ACT20 HD wide angle lense.

. your too far back at the start on the rolling lap.
. you pull out too look at passing then don't
. everytime you acknowledged a yellow flag and put your hand up you cost yourself time especially at 5.00 in
. When you got a good run on the onyx blue suited guy up the hill you tried to have the pass done before you reached the apex. instead you should be alongside and no more so he can't cut back on you and if your diving on the brakes you should have stood the kart on its nose to kill the speed rather than drift wide as you did (but got away with it)
5.29 was the first time you got the top corner right. look at 8.36 how far away from the apex you are on the same corner
. the corner witht he pit enterance your too quick into or sometimes blip the throttle. if you were a bit slower in you could hug the pit side more and be much faster round the next 2 right handers and overall down the straight.
your very good at the end of the straight carrying far more speed than others allowing you set up a pass at the top of the hill
other than that nay bad
edited to add please don't take that harshly

I wonder how you found the other drivers in the race.
Now my excuses:
On the rolling up lap the engine was bogging around the bootleg and I missed the jump, my intention was to get a good run out of the bootleg and hopefully get it just right, so I would be in a position to overtake going up the hill.
Not every gap is a suitable overtake, especially in the BUKC if you just slightly tap someone and they spin, then you get a black flag, another problem is that if they don't see you and they turn in, they may force you onto the curbs, which have cones on them and again results in a black flag. The black flag from what I remember is a ten or twenty second stop go, and basically destroys your race. So I'll take a look but I won't always go for it, another intention is to pressure the guy in front into to doing a mistake.
With regards to the yellow flags we're told to acknowledge them by raising a hand, this indicates to the drivers behind who may not have seen the yellow that there is one, and avoids a potentially nasty accident with people draging their karts back onto the circuit.
With that specific overtake, he was still alongside me to the very edge of the track, you can't see this in the video.
I agree that I was entering the bootleg too fast and should have been further towards the left hand side just after the entry for a better run.
Now for the more general excuses!
That was my second visit to that circuit, the first time being near enough a year ago, it was also the first time I had ran that layout. In the BUKC you get 3 laps practice and then it's race, so basically you have to been on it from the go and push it to immediately to find the limit, which obviously occasionally involves stepping ovr that limit. With this in mind I am constantly learning the track and looking for ways to improve, now if I had a Mychron on and was allowed some testing, then yes I would be able to perfect it.
With regards to the karts, they are club100 karts not race karts! They have been battered all their life, I would be suprised if there are any still straight, I was given that kart as a replacement for mine which was noticed to have bent trackrods! And the tyres have done as many laps as is possible. Now that's for the condition of the kart.
They are very different to driving a proper race kart, they are very stiffly sprung, run low grip tyres, are relatively heavy and have unpredictable brakes. You do have to really drive it, to get the best out of it. That means you have to get it sliding a bit through the corners, not just smooth in, smooth out as on a high grip Rotax.
Anyway I think that about covers it, or is as much as I can be bothered to write.
ETA: It's still great fun and probably the best sport to do at university, it's is very cheap for what it offers and I would fully recommend anyone to do it!
Good reply intrepid. My brother did a few club 100 races and he always maintained his results were linked to whether the cart he got was a 's
tt3r' or not. I'm just glad to see someone whos gone to uni who's only hobby doesnt seem to be drinking!
keep up the good work bud and keep posting the clips.

I meant nothing bad towards you OP - just it looks so annoying having no initial bite followed by a general lack of any sort of overall grip - pretty much the worst combo you can have! I used to do the uni champs in club 100, don't remember them to be quite so bad, but that was 10 years ago and resumably the current karts are rather different to then =)
Well, to counter my earlier critics I recently got my first win in the BUKC!
It was my first visit to the circuit, so I'm pretty chuffed with that!
Anway here's the video, well Pt1 at least anyway, I'll get the other part(s) up later:

How f1 can't provide a decent onboard view like this, I just dont know
I enjoyed watching them , keep it up
Thanks.I enjoyed watching them , keep it up

It would be nice if they did some helmet camera footage, last time they did it I think was with Coulthard at Brazil in 2008.
Although from what I remember it didn't turn out particuarly well, Coulthard doing 2 corners before crashing didn't help either, but yeah the technology for small HD cameras has come on massively since then, the only problem I can see is getting a live feed from the driver, they would have to plug him in I'd imagine?
