Well been sent photos of my outriggers from the garage today,and what really annoys me is the fact that somebody has filled the holes with mastic....can you believe it .just goes to show how supposedly one of the best cerbs in the country has been bodged.Heres the photos for all to enjoy,for future referance people should most definately get the underside checked and dont take the owners word for the chassis condition,wether the owner knows or not.

Mine are much worse than that. And mine was owned by a TVR indy that told the last owner they where changed out.........

At least you are getting them done Toni, I hope the bill isn't too steep? Mine is up on the ramps this weekend, I checked the outriggers with my head on the Tarmac when I got the car but I hope I don't have any other nasty surprises.

No bud this is what has stopped me in my tracks.The main chassis is good but i found this as soon as i got her on the ramps.am mid way through the rebuild but decided to get the outriggers done now so its out of the way and forgotten about.
Not really bothered about it because it would have come at some point,its the fact that there is mastic in there which clearly shows it was a known problem.What is doubly annoying is when i first got her i paid a certain indie to do a full inspection on her so i knew where i was heading....and the car was given a clean bill of health as far as the chassis was concerned.But hey she is getting done and will be treated like a queen from now on

Mine were also worse than that, so much so that they completely disintergrated. There was literally a gap where the tube had completely rotted away and had been filled full of mastic, they had plenty of waxoil put over them so it could not be seen. I drove it for 2 years before I knew the full extent of the problem, all fixed now though nice shiny new ones on and the main chassis was in great nick

Lol yeah would have been a bit down if they were spot on and i was wrong in my diagnosis,had to show mrs sponge the photos as proof.....she knows what a fussy old fart i am .....so it is good in a way.

Spongy you are certainly not the first, and will not be the last (along with Scott unfortunately). I know someone else who was caught out exactly the same with his Griff. We are a shrinking community and a little honesty goes a long way in my book, and to bodge a TVR is a crime.

well my new outriggers are made....and being coated as we speak,should be done for mid next week......got to get down to the garage soon and collect my rear wheels to get some new tyres on,and then they can do my tappets and get her mot'ed.dont think i will get much more done before chatsworth though.And yes the above comments are correct i dont mind the fact they are rotten cos they all go....its just that little bit of common courtesy and honesty from garages and people in the know......but hey its done now so lets get on with the next jobs in hand
