Hi peeps..Well i have been putting it off but decide today after picking up a polished plenum last week to address the issue of a rocker cover weeping gasket and also the issue of three cross threaded bolts on the inlet manifold side..I managed to get another inlet from fleabay a little while back and had it sand blasted yesterday so i could paint it..I also ground out the ford badge on the polished plenum and fixed a stainless plate ready for a TVR badge..I also painted it red...Every single nut and bolt came undone until i got to the top housing which is connected to a plate..The two bolts would not budge even after a good soaking of penetrating oil..So i had to grind them off with a dremel as an angle grinder would of been too big and getting a drill to the front one was a no no..Unfortunately when i removed the housing one of the lugs fell off..Probably me being a bit anxious..I called the ford garage and apparently they dont have any spare and its a part they stopped making some time ago..So i have cold welded it and hopefully it will hold..Typical...A two hour job turns into a two day job!!..I will persevere though..Cheers..Ziga

Hi Ziga
Looking very swish mate, shame about the broken part and hope your fix sorted it.

Cheers

Zig - I saw a similar thing happen on a mate's Dolomite exhaust, like your part there was a bit of lug left so we just roughed it up, used a big washer on the bolt and it's still holding to this day.

Cheers chaps..Im just trying to do my bit for the ole girl!!..well the cold weld has seemed to of held up but only once ive re-fitted it will i know for sure..I will use a washer on it just in case..Ive cleaned the unit up a little and applied some rust renovation on the inner pipe as its corroded quite badly although still pretty solid..All i need now is for it to stop raining and i can go out there and crack on...Cheers..Ziga

Hi Peeps..Well ive put it all back together again and went to start it and it turned half a rotation and stopped!!..When i checked i hadnt put the dizzy in properly..banghead..I have tried stuffing a bit of tissue in No 5 cylinder and hand cranking until the paper pops out and then turn a whole rotation as suggested by the ford guy..No joy..I tried doing it by cranking with the key gently until it pops out..I didnt want to take the rockers off again as they have had new gaskets..I had a big backfire so i swapped the leads round in case it was 180 degrees out..Nothing so it is off to the ford garage in the morning and he is going to sort it for a drink as i have got to pay for it being towed there, I was planning on having the cherry bombs cut out yesterday but that will have to wait now..I thought it would be too good to be true...Cheers..Ziga

Cheers chaps...
Roy..I have some silver paint for the bonnet stay so that will make it look shiny...I do need new bonnet struts even though mine still hold the bonnet but any little gust of wind it comes crashing down...Normally on my head..smash

Chris..It wasnt the leads mate, I marked the dizzy when i took it out but when i fitted it back it wasnt fully seated and so when i cranked it ive messed up the position it should of been in..irked..I should of double checked it..

Dave...Another name change?
