Ha ha, why not?!
However - presuming you mean like a Dodge Viper rather than like a Cobra, I think you'll find the chassis to be in the way and therfore a problem. Also, you'll need some serious heat protection not to melt the fibreglass. And you'll end up with black rear wheels every time you go out in the car.
It's not something I'd do but if done properly, it could be quite cool...

Works on a TC car..! It does somewhat impair the space left for a passenger seat but just about do-able. You'd want to replace the exhaust cut outs at the rear with a diffuser or something to tidy up the rear end but it would look cool with a bit more of the side pipe showing..

Technically it throws up 2 issues. If you have one manifold going to each side pipe without a common down tube you effectively end up with the exhaust note of 2 four cylinder engines, which is pretty unpleasant and you also loose some scavenging effect of running all the 8 exhaust pulses down one tube,(or at least joined) so you may end up with some mid range torque loss. You also have to consider how much space you have for the exhaust wadding to absorb the noise. On a high flow side pipe, you need a big tube down the middle that means an even bigger silencer around it to be effective. I fitted them to my Ginetta many years ago, and although visually I was pleased with the results, Ive never been happy with the overall noise, or performance.
