i used to have a vauxhall corsa which i was learnin to drive in and i was looking at quotes for that and was coming back with like 2500, so i got shut of that and bought a honda nsr 125 bike instead and iv been using that, but now im looking for a car and wondering is there any cars that arent your typical puntos clios and corsas that will be cheaper to iinsure ? looking at the likes of the old escorts golfs or mercs? any ideas for me greatly appreciated, and some decent companies to get my insurance through

cheers callum.

Depends on your age for starters. If under 21 or under 25.
Just insured our 17 year old with the 'Navy bloke'.
Added 2x 50+ with clean licenses holder on the insurance.

escort mk2 1600 harrier was £4k so went with a regular young lad car till he gets some sensible quotes when he's older

Don't you think the insurance companies 'think outside the box' also, particularly for 'terrific wheezes' that especially young drivers may come up with?

I think you might be surprised. They model around regular occurrences, and few new drivers crash Jag XJs for instance.

One of these comes up as similar costs to small engined corsas and the like, looks like quite a laugh.
